the day the dollar store bag got a facelift

I've discovered a really great way to make an adorable gift bag at a moments notice. It involves a plain dollar store gift bag, a clothespin, and some paper. You can pick up these plain colored gift bags at the dollar store for a buck and be ready for any holiday or occasion by whipping up a tag to dress it up.

Last week I attended a baby shower and had no baby themed bag. I was debating between birthday dinosaurs and vintage Christmas in my bag stash when I remembered this plain bag I had.  I simply cut a 3x6 tag and embellished it with bits and scraps from my craft desk. I found a clothespin and covered it with a strip of paper before adhering it to the bag.

Once the tag was done I wrote a message on it and slipped it into the clothespin. Of course I also had to get out some Seam Tape and mist it with a bit of mustard Color Shine. No project is complete without Color Shine.

So grab a few bags, make a few tags and you'll be ready for any occasion.

Supplies:
Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Collection
American Crafts Flower Ribbon
Heidi Swapp Color Shine
